Darwin
Stingers is one of the larger AUSSI clubs in Australia, with over 80
members
Members meet at the following venues and times. There are no
compulsory sessions; members attend different sessions according to their
needs, interests and time schedules.
Parap Pool (The club's "home"
pool)
1. Sunday 0800h - 1000h is "club day". The pool is
closed to the public and most members attending take part in the
National Aerobic Competition, in which the club competes with other
clubs around Australia. There is a weekly program of swims over 400m,
800m, 1500m, 30 min, 45 min and 60 min, with a different stroke/distance
each week. Points are awarded on a scale that takes into account time,
distance and age grouping.
Two lanes are set aside for warm-ups,
training and social swimming.
Handicap sprint races are held
when time allows and short fun relays round off the morning session,
followed by tea/coffee and toast.

2. Tuesday and
Thursday 0800h - 0900h. The focus of these sessions is stroke
correction for beginners and intermediate swimmers.
3. Although
not formal club activities, other training sessions are held on
other mornings during the week for those able to attend.
Nightcliff Pool
On Saturday 0830h -
1000h, a graded club training program is provided free of
charge.
Casuarina Pool
1.
On Tuesday 1800h -1930h (wet season) 1730h -1900h (dry
season), a graded club training program is provided, subsidised by the
club.
2. Although not formal club activities, other training
sessions are held for adult swimmers (mainly AUSSI members) on a
commercial basis on Monday and Thursday evenings.
